Finally I come to sit my arse here and write a thoughtful critique on this like I promised you to do. I already know that this is gonna be an inner struggle to me to write something as objective as possible, given how much I actually love this picture...
Uh yeah, what can I say? Let's say that I forget who's that character called Neige for a bit and that I put myself into the shoes of someone who never heard of her. First thing I notice is the intention to reveal the relation between 2 characters here, in a rather nifty way in fact, though I'm not sure if there is a particular meaning about the use of a puzzle rather than something else; who cares because in the end, it works? I think the idea is pretty good, in fact it even reminds me an old picture of mines I did years ago with something completely unrelated, but I said I would set myself appart from the relation I have with this picture to write that critique. Anyway I put 5 stars on the "Vision" category, because according to dA's definition on that one (Does the artwork present or reflect a point of view, theme or idea) I think it fits, in addition to being efficient.
I put 3,5 stars on Originality. It surely is a good idea that I like a lot myself, it is also well executed just as everyone can see in this artwork or in any other of yours for that matter, but I don't think this is something never seen so far, both for the idea than for the coloring style on Blaze, that I, again, enjoy to look at anyway.
4 stars on the Technique; you again used that personal style of yours which is efficient to me, and you seem to have put a lot of efforts into this just as in every of your pictures in fact, you surely don't do things by halves. You care about details and that's not a secret (even the 4 pieces of the puzzle match with the void remaining) and there are also a lot of attention payed to the lightning, I particularly think about the fire effect giving a warm color on Blaze muzzle and face as a whole when I say that, and also about the radiosity giving a hint of a light source coming from the bottom, but also from the back. I also enjoy to look at the eyes of the character(s) here, as well as the soft shadding on Neige's fur. The only reason as to why I put 4 stars and not 5 is because of Blaze's left arm that seems to be a bit too long than it should be in my opinion, aside from this it's pretty much perfect.
Impact - Is that the part when I am allowed to be a bit more subjective about the artwork? dA says "Does the artwork resonate with you or evoke strong emotions?" so I'll just go ahead with that haha. It surely is something powerful to me personally, for starters it's not that often that people draw something involving Blaze and Neige in the same picture, yet those 2 are for sure related in someway and you just did it using a slick move that shows this relation, but while not telling too much. That's just really classy, and I was really happy to see something like that showing up for once, seeing someone perceiving the link between the two of them, and deciding to go ahead and to do a fantastic artwork which is, to crown it all, on top-notch quality wise.
Aaaand that's it. I'm sorry you have to wait for so long, as a counterpart I think my critique is pretty long as well haha, but I really want to thank you a whole bunch once again for making this picture. It wasn't actually that easy for me to write all this, given the fact that I love pretty much everything in this picture, the characters, the theme, the idea, and so on. But that's nothing compared to the pleasure to look at this artwork again and again, in addition to the feeling it exudes to me ^^
